Stuck in Washington, DC
Here I am on my way back from US to Amman. The problem is that I am stuck in DC. The airline (which will remain unnamed) delayed the flight from Boston enough that I lost the connection in DC to London…and they would not provide a hotel room because the delay was due to bad weather (??).
Thank God for (Christian) friends in DC. Emil Bartos was nice enough to come to the airport (more than an hour – and he just got back from SBL in Boston) and host me for the night. I am supposed to leave tonight at 6 pm from here.
I was in Providence and Boston for about a week for the ETS (Evangelical Theological Society) and SBL (Society of Biblical Literature) conferences. It was nice to see and have fellowship with many familiar faces, buy some cheap books (one was less than 5 dollars), and to listen to some good papers. Perhaps more on the conferences later.
Boston is a great city, though I did not have the time to visit very much. I can’t wait to get back ‘home’ to see my wife and son (s?), and to teach and learn. Please keep me in your prayers.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
